                                                                          About San Diego Issues

and the reason for this site

Most of the good citizens of San Diego sit back and observe the shenanigans of the "powers that be". Other than complain to neighbors, relatives, strangers and out-of-towners and an occasional "I'm so mad I'm going to write to the Union (or some other public source) and let them know what I think!", we do NOTHING!

Well, there are a few people in San Diego who are not afraid to stand up and be counted. They go to the necessary meetings, write articles and letters to the editor, voice their opinions among peers and friends. One such person is Fred Schnaubelt, a former City Councilman and an avid writer on political and social issues in San Diego.  You may not agree with what he states, but he tackles issues with a vengeance and backs up his opinions with facts.

Eight years ago I asked Fred if I could publish some of his articles on a real estate website I had online.  I put a little blurb on the home page enticing people to read the articles. Well, like most new items, I had few visitors the first month. However, visitors started clicking on Fred's articles and I discovered that there is interest in San Diego Issues.

Text Box: Note: I have kept this same format since 2003. It is now 2011 and I have decided to make a few changes. I have eliminated the blog. Unless it is kept current, it becomes irrelevant. Also, spammers become a problem. In its place, I have added commentaries by Michael Stepner. Stepner is an architect, former city planner, a former Dean at NewSchool of Architecture & Design and a current instructor, and above all, a respected leader in San Diego. He is often quoted in newspapers, magazines and various media for his opinions and solutions for making San Diego a world-class city.
As Editor, I have also taken the liberty to include a few articles I have written on personal  "hot buttons" (granny flat issues) or topics to stimulate public comments.

Thus, San Diego Issues came about as a necessity for San Diegans.
It is a place where you are given generous space to state your opinions,
concerns and possible solutions to our vexing problems. Write an article,
or e-mail your ideas for this site.
